Teeth Whitening

What is Teeth Whitening?

Whitening is a great way to completely transform and lighten the color of your smile. Whitening is safe, effective and can remove years worth of stains and deep discoloration. We offer both take-home as well as in-office whitening to fit your individual dental needs. You can expect quick and dramatic results when undergoing professional whitening.

Why is Teeth Whitening needed?

Many different factors can contribute to a stained and discolored smile. Smoking, drinking coffee or cola and taking certain medications can cause your teeth to look darker and duller than they should. Just the simple act of aging can have a serious impact on the way that your teeth look. Whitening can be done as a way to improve your confidence or to improve the look of your smile before a special event, like a wedding.

Who is a candidate for Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is ideal for most healthy adult patients. Your teeth should be otherwise healthy enough to be whitened. If you have severe sensitivity, we may recommend other whitening or treatment options. We will perform an examination prior to recommending any whitening treatments.

What happens during the Teeth Whitening process?

If you’d like to come into our office for whitening, the process takes about an hour. We apply a thin layer of whitening gel to your teeth and activate this gel with a bright light that is placed over your smile. In about 60 minutes, your teeth are several shades whiter and brighter. If you’d rather whiten at home, we’ll take impressions of your teeth and use these to make custom whitening trays. You are then provided with whitening gel that is used inside of these trays. We will instruct you on how and when to wear the trays for best results. The great thing about at-home whitening is that you get to keep the trays for future use.
