Porcelain Veneers

What are Porcelain Veneers?

If the front of your smile is less than perfect, we can place veneers to cover up these flaws. Porcelain veneers are thin, yet durable and realistic-looking. They can last for about a decade before they may need to be replaced. Veneers can completely transform your smile in just two appointments and without the need for aggressive, complicated treatments.

Why would Porcelain Veneers be needed?

There are a few reasons for why you might want or would benefit from veneers. Your front teeth might be cracked, stained, discolored, unevenly spaced or otherwise unsightly. You might avoid smiling because of the way that your teeth look. Veneers can essentially cover up all of these flaws, which can improve the way that you look and feel as a result.

Who is a candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

To determine if porcelain veneers are right for you, we’ll examine your smile. It is important that your front teeth be otherwise healthy enough to hold onto the new veneers. If they are decayed, loose or severely damaged, we might recommend other treatments in place of veneers. If you have older veneers, we can remove and replace them as they show signs of wear or damage.

What happens during the Porcelain Veneer procedure?

The first step is to slightly file down and buff the front of your teeth. This helps to improve how the veneers look and how they adhere to your smile. We then take impressions and use these to make the permanent restorations. You will come in for a second appointment to have the veneers placed. This process is done one tooth at a time to ensure a natural, beautiful look. You can brush and floss around the new veneers as you do with your natural teeth. The new porcelain veneers can easily last for about 10 years before they may need to be completely replaced with new restorations.
