Orthodontics

What are Orthodontics?

Orthodontic treatment is a great way to straighten and realign your smile. If your teeth are crooked or crowded, it can be difficult to feel confident in yourself. Likewise, it might be impossible to properly clean your teeth because of how crowded they are. We offer orthodontic treatment to patients of all ages and can customize treatment according to your needs.

Why would Orthodontic treatment be needed?

The reason you might need orthodontic treatment is because your teeth are crowded, crooked or you have a malocclusion problem like an overbite or underbite. Our goal is to provide you with a full, straight smile that will improve your confidence. When your teeth are straighter, it is easier to keep them clean. You’ll find it easier to floss between your teeth and brush them, which can prevent instances of gum disease and tooth decay.

Who is a candidate for Orthodontic treatment?

Orthodontic treatment is ideal for most patients, regardless of age. In fact, many adults are beginning to come to us to begin straightening their teeth. We offer several different treatment options to meet your needs. With the help of a consultation and exam, we can determine if treatment is right for you and your dental needs.

What happens during the Orthodontic treatment process?

The orthodontic process begins with a consultation. We will take impressions and x-rays of your teeth to help in starting the treatment process. We then fit you with whatever orthodontic device and treatment appliance that is necessary to straighten your smile. It is important that when you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment, you come in for routine appointments in order to continue the treatment process. You can expect your smile to be completely straightened in roughly one to two years depending on how severe your orthodontic issues currently are and what needs to be corrected. For parents, we recommend bringing your children in around the time they are seven or eight for an orthodontic consultation.

If you think you might benefit from orthodontic treatment, call our office today so that we can get you into our office for a consultation as soon as possible.
