Invisalign or Clear Aligners
What are Invisalign or Clear Aligners?
Invisalign is a system of crystal clear aligners that work to straighten your teeth. Rather than utilize metal brackets and wiring, Invisalign uses clear trays that apply gentle, yet effective pressure onto the teeth. This helps the teeth to straighten, revealing a healthier, fuller and more beautiful smile in a short amount of time.
Why would Invisalign or Clear Aligners be needed?
The reason you might benefit from Invisalign is because your teeth are crowded or crooked. Regardless of your age, clear aligner treatment can be helpful and effective when it comes to revealing the smile you’ve always wanted. Clear aligner treatment is often quicker than traditional braces, and treatment can take anywhere from a few months to just one to two years. By straightening your teeth, you’re improving your appearance as well as your oral health.
Who is a candidate for Invisalign or Clear Aligners?
To determine if Invisalign is necessary, we’ll examine your teeth and mouth carefully. There is no age limit when it comes to who would benefit from Invisalign treatment. In fact, many adults are beginning treatment to finally achieve the smile of their dreams. For young children, we’ll discuss whether or not they are ready to undergo treatment and commit to removing and replacing the aligners as needed.
What happens during the treatment procedure for Invisalign or Clear Aligners?
The first step is to have a consultation with you. This involves taking x-rays and impressions of your teeth. From there, we will make custom clear aligner trays just for you. You will then need to wear these clear aligners for about 22 hours a day, or as otherwise directed during treatment. It is important to remove the trays when eating and brushing. You can expect to begin seeing results in just a few months and treatment is often completed in about one to two years depending on your orthodontic needs. You will need to come in every few weeks to have new custom trays made as your teeth begin to shift into place.
